Overview

The classic craps bet. While Don't Pass is slightly better, Pass Line is more social and still offers excellent odds, especially when backed with maximum free odds.

Strategy

Bet Pass Line, then take maximum odds once a point is established. The odds bet pays true odds with zero house edge. Always take max odds to minimize overall house edge. Come bets work identically to Pass.

What to Look For

  • 10x odds or better
  • 3x-4x-5x odds minimum
  • Friendly/hot tables (more fun)
  • Lower minimums with higher odds multipliers
  • Field bet pays triple on 12 (rare)

Risks & Considerations

  • Excitement can lead to proposition bets (avoid them)
  • Need bankroll for full odds backing
  • Variance means cold tables hurt
  • Easy to drift into higher edge bets

Pro Tip

Always start with proper bankroll management. Even with an edge, variance can be brutal. Never risk more than 1-2% of your total bankroll on a single session, and ensure you have at least 20-30 buy-ins for your chosen stakes.

Optimal Craps Strategy

  • ALWAYS take odds on Pass/Don't Pass - it's a 0% house edge bet!
  • Don't Pass is slightly better than Pass Line (1.36% vs 1.41%)
  • Place 6 and 8 are the best non-odds bets at 1.52% house edge
  • NEVER bet Any Seven - worst bet on the table at 16.67%!
  • • Avoid all proposition bets in the middle of the table - they're sucker bets
