Overview

The best bets on the craps table (besides free odds). Betting against the shooter offers low house edge and accepts massive free odds bets that dilute the edge further.

Strategy

Make Don't Pass or Don't Come bets, then back them with maximum odds (10x or more if available). The odds bet has zero house edge. You want the shooter to seven out after establishing a point.

What to Look For

  • 10x odds or higher (20x, 100x exists)
  • 3x-4x-5x odds (common, allows 345x strategy)
  • Lower table minimums with high odds
  • Empty or quiet tables (easier to focus)
  • Casinos with reduced commission on buy bets

Risks & Considerations

  • You're rooting against everyone else (social pressure)
  • Come out roll is disadvantageous (bar 12 instead of push 12)
  • Need large bankroll to back with full odds
  • Variance still exists despite low house edge

Pro Tip

Always start with proper bankroll management. Even with an edge, variance can be brutal. Never risk more than 1-2% of your total bankroll on a single session, and ensure you have at least 20-30 buy-ins for your chosen stakes.

Seven is the most common roll at 16.67% (6 ways). This is why the Pass Line bet has a house edge - the 7 works against you after the point is established.

Optimal Craps Strategy

  • ALWAYS take odds on Pass/Don't Pass - it's a 0% house edge bet!
  • Don't Pass is slightly better than Pass Line (1.36% vs 1.41%)
  • Place 6 and 8 are the best non-odds bets at 1.52% house edge
  • NEVER bet Any Seven - worst bet on the table at 16.67%!
  • • Avoid all proposition bets in the middle of the table - they're sucker bets
